WARNING! This story WILL become graphic, so please. Understand this and enjoy the story.
This is a different story then most others I have written, this has a different view. Other then just writing on something someone has given me. I’ve decided to write out a story, a long epic. After trying my hand at other stories, I think I’m finally ready to write this. This story is based a lot on things around me. My ideals, my views, and the impact friends and things have had on me. It’s purely up to you to decide if this is a negative or positive story. I just hope you’ll read with an open mind. You’ll need to understand most of this.
Before we start the story, I’d like to explain where and what has gone on. So, allow us to dive into this deep world. One where the lines of good and evil burry, where those with power are the “good guys”, a world similar to that of today’s. This story takes place in 2016; humanity has been evolving technologically greatly over this past few years. Leading to “rivalries” between the powerhouse nations. Two nations lead the front, China and the United States. On the outside and in the public eye, it only seems like a friendly technology race. But what people don’t understand is this is a race for power, both countries are close to the brink of war. These two nations, with their fingers on the red button, don’t have any understanding of the events that will unfold. Along with technology, other things have been brought to the table. These things far beyond what the masses can begin to comprehend.
Our protagonist is your normal boy, living in a quiet town. Close to the big city, he is the quiet type. Not one to make friends at school. Thinking almost nothing of the people around him. He doesn’t like to get caught up in other people’s affairs. But he is kind hearted and gentle, almost unseen by everyone he knows. Few people have ever seen this side of him, but things are going to get hairy for him. He’ll find himself at many crossroads, to seek the truth behind everything. This will lead to morale questions almost never asked. The line of right and wrong will cease to exist. This is our hero’s story. So, lets begin this story!
Chapter I
A quiet spring brings a nice breeze in the early morning hours. The wind blowing through an open window, a sound vibrates throughout the house “AXEL! DON’T BE LATE FOR SCHOOL AGAIN!” Our hero awakes to look at his clock; the time is 7:05. As he sits there scratching his head he says “Damn it, I don’t want to go to school today. Plus, I got like 55 minutes to get ready and arrive on time.” His mother walks up to his door, “Come on, it’s time to wake up.” He just looks at her with a dead stare. He gets up and walks over towards the shower. He turns on the faucet, looking down he looks deeply into the pool of water. As he stares closer and closer he hears his mom again “Don’t waste the water, get in already!”
He quickly hops in, half asleep he stands there. He finishes up quickly and hops out. He wraps the towel around him; he looks into the mirror, as he looks closely at he. He notices a figure standing behind him. We quickly wraps around to look, nothing is there. His heart is racing; he looks at his hands, trembling in fear. He pulls himself together and passes it off as nothing. He walks out towards his room. There a pile of cloths sits on his bed. He rushes to get ready; he then quickly grabs his bag and rushes to school. He reaches the schoolyard with about a minute or less to get to class. He darts of class, he barely beats out the bell, but he looked at the clock. The time didn’t really change from when he got to the school. It was still about a two minute run. Dumbfounded, he walks towards his desk and sits down.
As the first class is close to finishing, he notices weird things happening. Things seem to be slowing down in erratic intervals. The bell final rings, it seems longer then normal. He’s starting to notice this isn’t normal, he then goes to his second hour teacher and asks if he can go to the nurse. He goes and explains what’s going on, the nurse looks at him weirdly. She bluntly says “Have in token any sort of drugs lately? If you say now you won’t get into trouble, you can trust us.” He looks at her funny, being the wise ass he is “Oh yea, I’ve been taking drugs… What makes you think I’d take them, give me a drug test. Maybe I’m sick; I have no idea what’s going on. Might you explain for me?” She looks at him; she walks over towards the phone. He gets up; she asks here he’s going. He looks back and states, “I’m going home, and my parents are out. Since I’m sick, I might as well go home, I am either way. You plan on calling security. So go ahead, I don’t care anymore.”
He walks out of the school, he looks back to only say “What good is it anyways, this generation is worthless anyways. Why should I bother?” He hears a someone with a heavy Russian accent beside him, “You are correct, but you. You are something different from the worthless gene pool these people come from.” He looks back to see a pale yet tall man in a black suit topped with a hat that shades most of his face. He looks at him for a second, “Who might you be? I know you aren’t the school security.” This pale man looks at him with burning red eyes “Today is the day that will set the wheels in motion, and. Your life will also greatly change; I’ll be seeing you more within the next few days. Please, stay sane. Don’t want to hear anything bad has happened to you Axel.” Then just as a he appeared he disappears. Axel can’t believe any of this. He starts walking towards a local hangout of his, the game store. The cashier greets him, as they were long known buddies.
The clock turns to 5 PM, he heads out to beat his parents home. He gets home to notice their cars home, he walks up to the front door. There, he notices something is really out of place. The door is open, the lights are on, and he also hears the TV. He slowly opens the door to see a sight that’ll haunt him for the rest of his life. A bloodstain, going all the way down the hall, the air seems stale and devoid of life. Soon he feels a big chill run up his back, the room becomes cold, and his legs begin to move him without him noticing. He first walks by the living room. Inside he sees his older sister lying on the couch, the walls covered in blood. He continues to walk towards the kitchen, where he sees a figure standing in there. As he walks up, he notices that it’s a person. A teenage boy, wearing ragged clothing and a long white flowing headband that happens to be covering his eyes, as Axel looks into his hands, he notices one outstanding thing. He sees his mother’s severed head in his hand. In the other hand is a ninja like blade. His stomach starts to curs, he vomits a little in his mouth.
The teen looks at him, without saying a word rushes at him. Axel flinches, but notices he has stopped. The boy looking forward says “Nice to finally meet you Axel, I am Number 11. You might just call me “One of your brothers”.” Axel looks down at him “Don’t you have a real name? Number 11 isn’t much, also. Why is a headband covering your eyes? Can’t you see or something?” Number 11 in the same stance as before “You might not be able to tell, but I’m blind. So, it doesn’t matter if I can see or not.” Axel not even thinking of his other’s fate says “Then… How did you kill them? How did you kill my family?” Number 11 gets up and wipes the blind from blade, and then he states, “I don’t need my eyes to see, my friend. You must be the blind one here. Can you not see?” Axel looks at him with a sense of fear; Number 11 laughs, “The look of fear in your eyes is too much to bare. I can’t believe you’re Number 20. You’re so weak, I might as well kill you here!” A large bang is heard from outside, Number 11 looks towards the door. He looks one last time at Axel, leaving with cold words “You are nothing more then a weapon, you are forced to live the life we all have. I hope you can free yourself from this curse. But, overall, I hope you burn for being such a weakling. Next time we meet, I WILL kill you.” He dashes towards the door. Axel collapses on the ground, in a pool of his mother’s blood. Tears begin to run as he realizes what has just happened.
As he is kneeing in the pool of blood, he hears sirens outside. The police come in to see the bloodbath that had token place. The police themselves were in a state of fear, because no normal human could have done such a thing. The police drag the helpless Axel outside of the house. A figure steps out of the coward of people, Axel doesn’t look to see who it is. He hears a familiar voice, he manages to make out the words “I’m Axel’s uncle, I’d like to take him to my place. If you wouldn’t mind.” The police seem to agree with the man. He is then dragged into a car, were he looks up to see the man from earlier. By the time he notices this, the car is already moving and the doors are locked. Axel looks at him then in a stern voice “Really, who are you? What are you, some kind of pedophile? You like to prey on young adults or something?” The man looks back towards him “Boy, you have no idea what’s going on right now. I didn’t want this to happen so early. But things got pushed.” Axel grabbing onto the front seat “What do you mean by that? I have no idea what’s going on? You haven’t even told me your name!” The man in a cold and bitter voice says, “My name is Gavrill, otherwise. Call me Gabriel.” Axel laughs “So, you really are Russian, I thought it was only a act.” Gabriel looks towards Axel he says, “Young boy, you have no idea what I’ve been through, what I have seen. I have fit the need of acting. Gavrill is only a name used to trace me back to my beginnings.” Axel remains silent as they drive down the road.
The car finally stops at the end of a dirt road. Axel looks at Gabriel with an indifferent stare “So, why did we stop out here? You gonna kill me like that one “Number 11” guy did to my parents?” Gabriel closes his eyes, “I see, so they ordered him to do it. I didn’t think they’d send him to do it. The sick irony of this all.” Axel looks at him with a red face “Who are you? Why do you know us? I want to know this!” Gabriel looks at him with grim face “You are one of 22 children. Children that are weapons of war, you all have different abilities. You tap into the deepest part of the human being. Something normal people might call “Life Energy.” This energy cannot be tapped into by a normal human without many, many years of practice, most people die before they can. But, things have changed.” Axel nodding his head back and forth, “What do you mean by this? I don’t get any of it!” Gabriel slightly sighs a little “The project is known as the Arcana Project, 22 children were selected. The goal, a counter measure against China. As you know China is gaining on us in terms of technology, this means hostility is brewing. The US is worried about if China will invade. But the US realizes they cannot use explosives on the mainland. So, they developed human weapons, each one able to take out 1,000 or more soldiers with great ease.” Axel looked at him with a confused face, “Me, a weapon? What are you crazy!?”
Gabriel looks at him with his almost normal cold attitude, “Yes, you happen to be number 20. Now, if you know your Arcanas, you should be able to figure this out.” Axel comes back quickly with “Alright, so. If we start with zero, the Fool, that’d make 20…. Judgment?” A smile breaks on the heart Gabriel’s face “Yes, the boy you meet earlier. Well, just be creative. But yes, you are Arcana Twenty. Judgment.” Axel looks away, “I can’t believe this, so I’m just the country’s weapon. To do as they please?” Gabriel steps outside of the car, as he steps out “Things will come into understanding. Just stay in the car, you know what curiosity did to the cat?” Axel looks away from him, he lies down in the back seat. Going over all that’s happened that day “Alright, I’m someone’s weapon, my family is dead, and some weird Russian guy has dragged me to the middle of the desert. Well, today couldn’t get any better. Really, what did I do to deserve all of this?” As Axel looks up, he starts to drift in and out of sleep. Where soon he collapses and passes out.
