Well if you're running on Firefox, you should definitely download the following two add-ons if you haven't already. (both work for FF3)
- NoScript -
Basically stops all scripts running on pages. Most times, tricky ads/popups run on javascript so this stops them before they happen.
- Adblock Plus -
Simple tool on stopping most common ads.
It's a real breather with these two add-ons working together. Take forosdz for example. Try to navigate this site without them.
- How To Use -
Remember, Noscript stops all scripts on the page (the things that make a webpage work) You will see an "S" at the bottom right corner of your browser. Rick click it and it will list the scripts for the current page.
For Brawl Frontier allow "proboards81, playlist, greatprofilemusic, and chatango" The rest are ads and other unneeded scripts. You need to do this to every site you go to, but only once since it saves your preferences.
For example, Youtube:
Another example, Flash Flash Revolution:
Here's another neat trick, lets say there's this image you hate seeing on a site each time you visit. How to take it out for good? well all you do is...
Then a black box will pop up with all the blocked images. Just press okay and it will block the image you right clicked.
To bring back the image, go to Tools> adblock plus. In the black box, go to the bottom of the list and delete the last entry. Press okay then refresh the page.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hope this helps some people and makes your web surfing experience better.
